Tree’s!

I read these words by Ram Dass over on Grief Happens blog, and like her I thought it appropriate for the season too…

‘When you go out into the woods and you look at trees, you see all these different trees.

And some of them are bent, and some of them are straight, and some of them are evergreens, and some of them are whatever.

And you look at the tree and you allow it.

You see why it is the way it is.

You sort of understand that it didn’t get enough light, and so it turned that way.

And you don’t get all emotional about it.

You just allow it.

You appreciate the tree.

The minute you get near humans, you lose all that.

And you are constantly saying ‘You’re too this, or I’m too this.’

That judging mind comes in.

And so I practice turning people into trees.

Which means appreciating them just the way they are’

And at the bottom of her post she simply says…

‘Who are you turning into a tree this holiday season?’ 😀

    1. My pleasure Christy. Our fears create those judgements, all we have to do is understand our fears…and they will exist no more 😀
It does take a little while but that is so we will appreciate what it has taken to beat them, by understanding why we built them 😀

    1. It does make us realise how ‘conditional’ we are, and probably why we find it so pleasant to just have ‘a walk in the woods’, no longer ‘on guard’ with those human creatures 😀

    1. I haven’t done a post since the 2nd of Dec so I might be waaaaay down the bottom somewhere 😀
And the ‘tree’s’ are most certainly very prominent in their meaning, it is something we all do my friend. Time to ‘learn’ a new way <3 😀

    1. Thank you Cheryl, it is a great pointer to how we are. Mind you what most don’t realise is that those judgements are driven by our fears and how we feel about ourselves. Fix our own hearts and all that just fades away. I have seen it many times, now that I have dared to look within and ‘see’ what drove my life beneath the hubub of this world 😀
Have a great Christmas and New Year, may it dare you to look also, it is a priceless gift <3 😀

  1. Mark, such a profound quote.. I love it.. Oh how the Trees teach us.. And would we all be like them..And not judge how each of us grow..

We all have our roots embedded into our past.. Our branches may take many twists and turns in life, as we grow, replenish, and shed that which we no longer need..

But we all of us emerge out of the dark, a small seed, and we all of us reach up to the light..

Such an excellent post.. So pleased you shared it Mark. 🙂 ?

    1. It was a very touching quote Sue, I just had to pass it on so that others could see its truth. Most of our lives we project our judgements because of our fears. We don’t mean to but it cannot be helped because of our self doubt, a side effect of those same fears. I wish there was some way to show that the day that our fears are understood we will stand in that non judgement, it too is a side effect of no fears.
Your not going to believe this, but spirit just nudged me when I wrote that last sentence…it has to do with the Judgements they speak of in the Bible. The day we no longer judge ourselves or others, we too will not be judged. It is the natural order of things in this universe. Like gravity or a million other things, that too is a law. I’ll have to digest that a little more, that was quite profound <3
And thank you for sharing Sue, it is good to have you back 😀 <3

      1. Spirit have that habit of giving us that little nudge.. lol.. And yes, It all begins with changing ourselves.. How we perceive and behave. We are often our own worst enemies, and have much to learn. The inbuilt fears have been ingrained for Aeons,
A great book that is channelled sheds much light on the human progress, and how we have through many incarnations throughout ‘Time’ come to live from our Ego’s and while it is needed, why we are on this perpetual wheel of judgement and fear.and Karma, Look up Zingdad and a free ebook entitled The Ascension Papers Book 1, by Zingdad.. Lots I already knew, but it gives you more answers to the whys it is like it is, and why its so hard to overcome.. 🙂 Enjoy,

          1. I often do that Mark, Some of my spiritual books I have had since the late 80’s early 90’s and some on first reads, I put down and did not really digest what was in them. As it all appeared far too ‘far-fetched’ in some of them..
Yet years later I picked up the same books and they made perfect sense..
Knowledge comes when it is meant to, and when we are ready for it .. Often we can not digest everything at once..
We have to go through those baby steps, ( our thorns ) and learn to see from a different perspective.. Especially when we strip away our masks and dig deeper into our own soul,
Then all the pieces we have gathered together slot together like a giant jigsaw puzzle.. And slowly we begin to see the bigger picture, and understand we were never that separate piece at all.. But always part of the whole.. 🙂

Wonderful chatting with your Mark.. Hope your day is a peaceful one.. 🙂 <3

  2. So true, Mark. We judge people so harshly sometimes, but we accept nature as it is. Your post is a wonderful reminder on how we should look at and treat each other. Acceptance is much needed in our human lives.

    1. Most certainly. But I do understand it takes time to understand this, as we are a complicated species on our journey to find that self love <3
Thank you for sharing Michele <3

    1. They are the blessings of our life. Create that lovely oxygen we breath in, shade us from the elements, and are a delight to behold in all their beauty. What is not to like? 😀
May your life embrace them always…the wooden and the flesh varieties <3

    1. Thank you Himali. It is just the fears we carry with us as we grow up, they hold us in a pattern of judging ourselves which in turn we put out into the world. Once we find the truth behind them they lose their power over us, we understand the ‘why’ and let them go, drop the walls that we have built for our protection, and realise the love we had been blocking because of it and understand that it is all built on those negatives we hold against ourselves, the ‘I’m not good enough, I can’t do this or that’, the holding patterns of those fears. And in finally understanding and dropping those walls we no longer judge others, simply because, after going through our own fears, we now ‘see’ them in others and have much empathy for them because of our own experiences.
Have a great day, may your fears take you where you need to go, to find the one love that we struggle with through our fears…our own <3

    1. Thank you Kristine. He does give from a beautiful place, as does the lovely lady at ‘Grief Happens’. And considering her journey, she is finding great strength and a love I could only wish for 😀

    1. They always seem to be ‘magical’ to me Barbara, they minded me as I grew up. I lived by a stream dotted by them for miles and they would always ‘wave’ to me as I walked by or sat under them dreaming of magical things 😀

  3. I just LOVE this, Mark! Unfortunately with my bio family I must keep at a distance due to preconceived notions of who I am that truly I am not. I do however see many people like trees, just accepting them for who they are and it feels just wonderful! When it is reciprocated, it is even more wonderful! Thank you for this post!!

    1. Thanks Amy. And it is an incredible thing when we finally ‘see’ what has kept us in those patterns of fear and can now let them go. And in that ‘let go’ everything changes because those fears were applied to everything, they were us in all that we did, and a rebuild begins…but this time it is built on that understanding of our truth, not the masks that we once wore. And because we are no longer distracted by them, we begin to see the truth in everything around us, even other people, simply because we are no longer attracting from that place and are no longer giving out from that person before <3
Have a great day Amy, may your new found heart enjoy the view <3 😀

      1. My “6th Senses” are coming in clearer and stronger lately, Mark. I find myself “knowing” and before I know it I have to be very strict (but gentle) with myself when I slip into “judgment”. That is too easy to do especially when so much around me is not based on Truth or Love. I see the “why”. So I stop to step back further (inwardly) to know more and then Compassion is felt and prayer right behind Compassion. The air itself around me seems so “clear” and I can feel a “glow”. I’ve actually become shy in showing my eyes to others and until I feel more confident of this new skin I now have, I will keep my eyes downcast. I have offended people just with my direct gaze in previous interactions so now with the added Light I now have, I guard my “soul” fiercely until I know when to show my eyes. I’m not sure if I am making sense. I’m going through a growing pains phase or something. (smile) ?

        1. Yes you are Amy. That ‘rebuild’ requires us to just stand in our truth, with integrity. Be the love we are becoming within, no longer allowing our fears and old ways to drive our path 😀
Just relax and breeeeathe my friend and you will begin to attract on that level. Yes there will still be ‘others’ who come along and test you, but they are there so that you can ‘see’ how far you have come and what may need a little more looking inward to understand the why of something. But the biggest guide is following your heart. Enjoy the new you <3 😀

          1. Just relax and breathe… that is exactly my intention right now. I’m heading for the couch as in putting my feet up and doing nothing. I just asked myself about 10 minutes ago when is the last time I actually did this? I feel like I could sleep for about 20 years right now. Wow! What are ride I’ve been on! ?

  4. Oh Mark, I really like this! Thanks for the reboot, especially when it comes to different family personalities around the table today! I hope you have a lovely day! Quiet and peacefilled! ♥

    1. Thank you Yvonne. It is a big family time with all those personalities bouncing around. We don’t have Thanksgiving over here but I have just learned as time goes by that I am the only one ‘reacting’ to whatever comes my way in those personalities, in whatever situation. And I realised it was only my fear of something that I was ‘on guard’ and reacting to. Understand the fear and it loses its power 😀
Have a lovely time with family, may it be a forest filled house <3

      1. Understand the fear and it loses its power – I need to work on this part! I’m always a work in progress…thank you so much for you sage words and kindness! ♥

    1. Thank you Jamie. Ram Dass has a way with words 😀
When we begin to ‘see’ and understand our journey it becomes more and more clear that we do in fact live in that forest, and not the bricks and mortared walls of our fears.
Have a lovely time and blessings for your holidays also 😀

    1. Standing in our truth, no longer holding our masks is a freedom like no other Lyn. I am glad you are free 😀
Thank you for sharing that freedom, even the one over the lava views on the islands 😀

    1. We will be Pam, because life is fine tuning us to realise that it is only our fears that hold us in the patterns that we do. And as we understand those fears we will drop those masks and walls that we build to block those fears, and finally ‘see’ what was beneath them…that understanding that was in the words above.
Our judgements are only the fears and the expectations that we build against ourselves, the ‘I can’t do, I’m not good enough’ variety that we mirror out into the world in all that we do. Understand our fears…and we are free from those judgements (giving or receiving)…forever. And the wisdom of that understanding will show us the one thing we have sought all our lives. The happiness that will now be in the self love we give ourselves in that understanding, and have always been looking for 😀
